Description

The Cashel Feed Rite Bag is designed to reduce feed waste and prevent feed loss from sloppy eating, bucket flipping, or bullying among horses. Its spill-proof construction uses durable, breathable coated mesh with an adjustable elastic strap that retracts as the horse eats, ensuring every grain is consumed. This innovative design not only stops fights at feeding time, allowing each horse to receive their full ration, but also assists in training horses that are hard to catch. For added convenience, a nametag is included to easily label each horse’s bag. Available in mini, pony, horse, and draft sizes in select colors while supplies last.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I stop my horse from wasting grain?

A Feed-Rite Bag keeps grain in instead of on the ground. The elastic strap pulls the bag up as the horse eats so they get every bit.

Does a feed bag help with bossy horses at feeding time?

Yes. Each horse eats from their own bag, so the pushy ones can't steal from the others.

What sizes do Feed-Rite Bags come in?

Mini, pony, horse, and draft. Each one comes with a name tag.

Durable game-changing feed bags

We bought two Cashel feed bags after seeing how well our friend’s feed bags held up. These bags have been a game-changer for feeding time. We’ve got a few horses in the pasture that don’t get grain, and the feed bags make it so much easier to give grain to the ones that need it, without having to pull each horse out individually. The design is sturdy, easy to use, and keeps the peace at feeding time. They’re worth every penny. We bought the orange horse size for both our horse and our 12.2 hand pony.

Some of the best feed bags available

We use feed bags a lot at the nonprofit Akhal-Teke Foundation, because the horses each get daily individual meals, while also giving in social groups. Anyway, we have tried several brands of feed bags, and Cashels are one of the top two brands we’ve found. They are well made and sturdy, and hold up well under heavy use in conservation breeding. 👍👍

Poor quality

This grain mask literally only lasted 1 month before it had 2 huge holes in the sides so the grain falls out of it. This is the second one I purchased with the same issue.

Product does not hold up, stitching came apart after only 5 uses.

Cashel horse feed bag, only used 5 times and bottom stitching is coming apart. Have been using Cashel horse fly masks for 15 years and have never experienced poor quality as what I have with this feed bag. Disappointing! And past 30-day return window for Amazon, lesson learned. I would have given it zero stars but it requires a minimum of 1 star.

Exactly what we wanted and needed!

Bought because our trainer recommended. It’s the only bags our trainer buys! We love it!

Fits my TB well and hold all 6#’s of her grain.

I love this feed bag however I think mine was defective in strength. See photo. I would love it if Amazon would replace this bag with the same bag.

Did not hold up at all.

My horse used this less than a month.

Why did Cashel Change their Design???

We have used the Cashel feed rite bags for over a year, and recently when ordering replacement bags - Cashel is now sewing the seam to the inside of the feed bag, instead of the outside where it was in previous feed bags we ordered. All feed, medications, powders and saliva now get trapped in the inner seam. It really makes using these masks obsolete now for our needs - and incredibly sad as we really liked them.

Works great!

Wish it has a little higher insert at the bottom for powder supplements to not fall through, but it’s easy to use!

Handy in Groups

Got this for my yearling filly who is penned with our older horse who doesn’t need grain or supplements. This helps tremendously in feeding my filly what she needs without having to worry about her getting chased off, and she doesn’t drop anything on the ground, either. Easy to clean and seems durable after a month of use. Got the pony size for my yearling, but she is small.

Good product but quite small

This pony-sized feed bag is MUCH smaller than the horse size. Photo shows all three sizes (pony, horse, and draft) for your reference. It is only just barely large enough for my fine-boned 13.2 hand pony (pictured). It is just barely wide enough for her and the bag really isn't deep enough. If she ever needs more than a pound of grain at a time it might not work for her. That said, I love feed bags and this is a good product. Feed bags are hands down the best way to feed grain to horses that live in groups, and to make sure messy eaters don't waste your grain and money. I now own every size of Cashel feed bag and can say that they generally hold up for quite a while unless the horse steps on them. My oldest one is now 4 years old and still functional, though there is a small hole in the mesh from a very active horse who liked to paw at it.

Efficiency for preventing grain loss

Works. But difficult to clean.

Cheap buckle. broke first time I used it. Very dissatisfied.

The plastic buckle broke the first time it was used. I compared to the last feed bags that I bought and now Cashel is using a cheaper buckle. Very dissatisfied it did not last a single feeding.

The best!

I've used feed bags for many years and Cashel does it right. With twice daily use they easily make it a year. Ventilation on the off chance you forget and leave it on too long. Vinyl bottom so supplements don't fall out and adjustable for perfect fit.

Will buy again!

Love this grain bag! It’s sturdy, and keeps the grain in great! My guy is a pretty messy eater and he didn’t spill any with this. Fits well with the adjustable strap and is a good size that holds enough grain. Will purchase again when I need more!

Durable and easy to use.

Really well made and perfect for my horses that are of 24/7 turnout. I love that they come in different sizes and colors. Makes it easy to tell which meal goes to which horse. I portion out the feed and tote the bags right out to the field. I hand out with the horses while they eat and when everyone is done I just walk through and grab them off. Been using them for over 6 months now and they still look great.

A must if your horse drops feed!

My horse was dropping a bunch of feed when eating. He already had his teeth floated so that wasn't it. He was 21 years old at the time and had lost some weight and we were going to be going into winter in a couple months. I purchased this feed bag and it is very durable, color doesn't fade and easy to put on as the strap can come apart to place over the ears like a halter. This enabled him to put on weight and put my mind at ease. If you happen to forget to take it off for a little bit (not for a long time of course) your horse can still drink water with it on if they are thirsty right after eating.

well made

well made, sturdy, and easy to clean. I wish there was a bit more elastic on the strap and the buckle is a bit stiff, and those are merely minor complaints.

Great, sturdy, durable feed bags

We have been using these bags on all 6 of our horses, draft and regular sized, for a few years now and we love them. They hold up very well, and they significantly reduce the amount of feed that gets wasted. Our horses also get the correct feed and meds, even feeding them together as a group, because they can't chase each other away from their feed. The bags are pretty easy to clean with a hose and a brush, and the mesh is thick enough that you don't have to worry about giving it a good scrub. We end up replacing our bags once a year when they get too worn out, but we do feed our horses in the field in all weather, so our feed bags go through the ringer. However, our horses do not have a tendency to pull them off of one another because they're all wearing one at the same time. I've seen people go through them much faster when they have other horses pulling them off and messing with them. Also to note, we've tried using cheaper alternatives with no success. Most other bags only lasted a month or two at the most, and they either ripped or the buckles/straps were cheap and broke.
